Pokahontas, also commonly spelled Pocahontas, was a notable Native American woman associated with the colonial settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. She was the daughter of Powhatan, the paramount chief of a network of tribal nations in the Tsenacommacah, encompassing the Tidewater region of Virginia.
